Hi everyone
Hope you are a little warmer than we are. We had a first taste of some snow on Saturday. Just enough to cover the trees and a little on the ground. Temperatures are slowly rising again. I hope they continue to do so for a while. At least they can stop in the 50s and stay there until the week before Christmas. Have to have snow for Christmas. I guess that is what happens when you grow up with the 4 seasons. If you don't have one, you really miss it. Although, I know a lot of people who don't miss the snow. I love to see a fresh fall of snow before everything and everyone gets it dirty. With the lights sparkling off it. It is really pretty. Even some snowfalls are beautiful to watch. Especially if you have a fire in the fireplace and a cup of hot cocoa in your hands. The softly falling snow with the big flakes are nice.

Well, on to other stuff.....
Some of you may know of Ralf Black who does our satellite feed for us. He has been on the program a couple of times in the past. He also has a TV satellite studio in New Orleans. Ralf has put together a show that follows Friday Night Talk at 9pm EST. This show consists of Mike Kohl, ( those of you who had listened to Gary might remember him). He will discuss the changes in the world of satellite and take any questions you have in regards to them. Ralf will then talk about news of the broadcasting world and take questions from the listeners. If you have thought or wondered if you could do a broadcast, then this is for you. The last hour will be a little of everything. I will be doing a report on computers-much of what I do on FNT, but will have on what I didn't touch on during my broadcast. Right now, I am doing Windows Vista and will be getting into Microsoft 2007. I know there were a lot of changes and most are having a problem with getting to use the programs.

Ralf's show is 3 hours long and will go until 12 pm EST. After him will be Ron's show of music.

That is all for now,
Until next time

CRITICAL SECURITY PATCH

Hi all,
I just read about a security patch for Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Server 2003. On October 23 2008, Microsoft released a critical Windows security patch, which is something they haven't done since April 2007. This patch fixes a vulnerability that allows a remote program to be run in Windows without any authentication. A worm that uses the hole in the Windows security to take over a computer has already been released on the Internet. The worm is called "GIMMIV" and it locates the security hole on a computer and executes a program that steals passwords. The code for the worm was released on a popular hacking Web site, which leads many to believe that the exploit will be modified and different versions of Gimmiv will be released on the Web.

Symantec and McAfee, Inc. stated that they had only seen a small amount of attacks based on the exploit. However, Symantec said they discovered a 25 percent increase in network scans for computers that contain the vulnerability, which suggests the amount of attacks on this security hole may increase.

It is strongly recommended that you turn on your Automatic Updates and receive the security patch. (Start, Control Panel, Security center, automatic updates) I believe you could also go to Microsoft site and download what patches you deem necessary for your computer.

Every once in a while there is a cause to have your updates on, but not very often. I know most of you have them off. But you might want to take a look at this one if you use Windows. For the Linux users out there.........be quiet! Heeheehee

Hi everyone, sorry it has been a while since I was here.
I was working in Iowa for about 5 weeks, and it was a very different experience. I was at a job site helping with the flood recovery at an energy plant. I worked in the 'office' (trailer on site with lights, a/c, heat). Mostly all men 90% of them didn't speak english. At least the ones I needed to speak with could. The work itself was nothing, but the guys made it so it was not dull.

These guys have worked together, 7 days a week for the past 3 months before I got there. While I was down there, I got to see my daughter and granddaughters a couple of times and saw one of my cousins too. It was a pretty nice time anyway and the money was GOOD!!!

Onto other news. If I can get my act together, I will be doing some spots for Ralf's Broadcast Show which will air after Friday Night Talk (us). Marion's Attic, for those who listen to her on shortwave, has moved to a new time slot. SATURDAY, 5:OO PM, EASTERN TIME ON 7.415 MHz. So be sure to listen to her at this time if you can't get it on us.

This Friday, Wayne is in Kentucky and we should be able to get on the air with another listener helping with the link. So keep your fingers crossed. If not, I won't be there either.

Hugs for now.

XP scam

Hi everyone
As some of you know, I have been expecting a new granddaughter---well, she was born on Sunday 8/10/08, Audrey Dianne. She was 7 lb 2 oz and 19 3/4 inches. A little tuff of reddish hair and she is adorable. Doesn't like to sleep without being held, but I am sure that is just a temporary thing.

ALERT!! There is a scam out there called XP Antivirus 2008. Don't buy it. It takes alot of your memory and then gives false reports. If you did download it go to http://www.windowsvistaplace.com/xp-antivirus-2008-removal-instructions-xp-antivirus-2008/spyware-removal to remove it. Do not fall for this one because it has XP on it. It looks real.

There is also a virus that is hitting Facebook for those of you who use it. It is done by what is called 'social engineering' and there is not much that can be done by it. Here's what happens: a hacker either creates a Facebook account or somehow steals someone else's account. They then post messages on a very popular part of Facebook, called "the wall." The message looks like it's from a friend and it has a link to a funny video. If you click on the link, you're taken to a malicious Web site that infects your computer. Remember to watch out for links to videos. Those can be the most vicious of all.

Until next time...

Another day

Last night I used the web site of http://lyricsfly.com and sang along with my favorite songs. It was great!!! My headset on and the music coming thru and I am singing like crazy. Now for those of you who know me, know I can't sing worth a darn. But, hey, this was fantastic!!! Not to mention-good for my ego. :) Good thing my parents couldn't hear me as I am sure they would have pulled the plug. Give it a try and see if you can enjoy it as much as I have.

I am currently reading the book "Creating Web Pages for Dummies" and boy, do I feel dumb. Granted, I have learned alot doing the show and listening to Wayne and others, but this is a whole new thing. So will see what happens and how far I can get into it. I will be sure to keep you posted and IF (a big IF) I can get one up and running, you can let me know what you think about it.

The sun is shining today and when the grass dries, I think I will start on the lawn mowing again.

Hope the sun is shining where you are at. HUGS

Gary sent to the Moon????

Hi everyone
Well, not exactly. Gary was sent into outer space again. On the Falcon 1 flight 3 military shuttle, Gary's ashes were to circle the planet til whenever. Something went wrong and they had to blow up the spaceship about 50 miles from the earth. The last time they sent Gary up, they lost him for a few weeks. I don't think he is to be in outer space. Although he always said that we have to get off of this planet.

I have also been informed that we now have all the episodes of 'Flash Fishborn' from the Aircheck Factory. I will be getting with Bill Harris to see how we can distribute them to anyone who would like to have them. Bill is still working on a web site in which all of Gary's talent can be heard.

We are still non-profit corporation for those of you who knew us when Gary was around. It is costing more and more to operate and if any of you would like to send donations in, please let us know. We can use the help and we don't ask for them very often.

I was really sorry not to be able to talk with you all on Friday, but Wayne was having his problems and I can't do the streaming from here. Am checking into some of that to see what I can do when Wayne isn't available. Also, you will be happy to know, that the episode of FNT that was replayed will NOT be replayed again. I have forbid it and let Wayne know that was not one of our best.

It is a rainy day here so I can't mow the lawn. Had to bring in my clothes from the line before they were completely dry. But no harm done there.

Hope all is sunny and clear with you. HUGS

Sun shiny Day

Hi everyone,
It is a gorgeous day here in WI. The crops in the fields here are growing like crazy. The beans are almost all picked and on their way to a cannery. Soon the carrots will be harvested, then the potatoes and corn. With the rain we had and now the sun, everything is growing like crazy. That's good as I like to eat. :)

Have a site for those of you who like to write. It is www.associatedcontent.com. Check it out. Even if you don't write, and you would like more info on something or someplace, you can contribute to the site and someone can write an answer for you. You could make some money there too. And I know you all like MONEY!!! Right?

I have been doing some research on several things. Hoping to start a segment that I will continue thru several shows. I know I tried that before and we got carried away and it went down the tubes. This time, I will make it go. (I hope) :)

Hope to see ya all on Friday.
